TRAVEL BURSARIES: ACIS Fourth Biennial Conference

The Australasian Centre for Italian Studies is making a limited number of Travel Bursaries available, on a competitive basis, to current and recent postgraduate students who are not in full-time employment, to support their participation in its 2007 biennial conference in Brisbane.

To be eligible, applicants must be:

- presenting a paper at the conference
- in less than 0.5 of full-time employment
- currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme (MA by research or PhD) or have graduated with a postgraduate degree within the last three years.

Each bursary will be for up to $500, the amount being in part dependent on the distance the applicant must travel to attend the conference.

Applications for funding must include the following:

1. Name and contact details including telephone number, email address and current home address (for posting a cheque). Those not resident in Australia must include bank account details for electronic funds transfer.
2. A statement of the applicant’s commitment to attend the entire conference.
3. The accepted abstract of the conference paper.
4. A brief curriculum vitae.
5. For current students, a letter of support from a supervisor confirming the relevance of the conference to the applicant’s research topic.
6. Proof of enrolment or date of graduation.
7. A statement of the distance to be travelled and a quote for lowest economy airfares.

Applications should be sent by email, post or fax, to:

Ms Bianca Galipo
Project Officer - Trusts & Foundations
Office of Development M361
The University of Western Australia
35 Stirling Hwy
Crawley WA 6009
Email: bianca.galipo@uwa.edu.au

The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday 25 May 2007.

The ACIS Management Committee will select and notify the winners. The decision of the committee is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Funds will only be released to successful applicants on presentation of an airline or train ticket/receipt.
