Postgraduate Travel Bursaries - New Europe, New Governance, New Worlds?

The Australasian Centre for Italian Studies is offering six travel bursaries to assist current or recent postgraduate students who are currently unwaged to take part in the conference and give a paper at a session.

The bursaries of up to $700 (AUD) each will be available to postgraduate students who are presenting a paper at the conference.

Applicants must be:

- in less than 0.5 of full-time employment
- currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme, or have graduated with a postgraduate degree (MA by research or PhD) within the last two years. (Proof of enrolment or date of graduation is required.)

Applications for funding must include the following:

1. A letter confirming the applicant’s commitment to attend the entire conference;
2. A statement of the distance to be travelled and a quote for an airfare;
3. A proposal to present a paper at the conference, including title and abstract (the award will only be made to students whose proposals are accepted);
4. A letter of support from a supervisor confirming the relevance of the conference to the applicant’s research topic.

The ACIS Management Committee will select and notify the winners. The decision of the committee is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Funds will only be released to successful applicants on presentation of an airline or train ticket/receipt. Details of how successful applicants are to receive their bursaries will be finalised in due course.

The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday 16 February 2007. Please note the closing date for paper proposals has now been extended to 31 January 2007.
